Delete your Cahoots account

This page explains how to delete your account in Cahoots (listed in app stores as “Cahoots Business”), the Durango business network operated by Animas Marketing, and what happens to your data. You do not need to sign in to read it.

How to delete your account

Choose whichever is easiest. All three start the same process.

In the Cahoots app (iPhone and Android)

  1. Open the Cahoots app and go to Settings.
  2. Under Account & Data, tap Delete account.
  3. Enter your password and tap Delete my account.

On the web

  1. Sign in at getcahoots.com.
  2. Open Settings and scroll to Delete account.
  3. Click Delete account, enter your current password and click Delete my account.

By email (if you can’t sign in)

Email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my Cahoots account”, from the address on your account or naming your business. We will permanently delete your account and associated profile data and confirm once it is done.

The 30-day grace period — you can change your mind

When you delete from the app or the web, nothing is erased right away. Your account is scheduled for deletion in 30 days, and you stay signed in. To cancel before then, sign in and choose Keep my account (app: Settings > Account & Data) or Cancel deletion (web: Settings). After 30 days the deletion is carried out and cannot be undone.

Cahoots Featured: requesting deletion stops your Featured plan from renewing (Featured stays on until the end of the period you paid for). Choosing Keep my account turns renewal back on. When the deletion is carried out, the plan is cancelled. Refunds follow our 30-day money-back guarantee.

What is deleted

What we delete after the 30 days depends on how you use Animas Marketing. The app and website tell you which applies to you before you confirm.

If Cahoots is the only Animas Marketing service you use

Deleted

  • Your Cahoots sign-in, password, active sessions and password-reset links.
  • Your Animas Marketing account itself: your name and email address are replaced with an anonymous placeholder, any Google sign-in link is removed, and the account can never be signed in to again.
  • Your notification preferences and any team or organization membership tied to the account.
  • Your swipes, deck and notification preferences, profile prompts and answers, the messages you sent, and your photos.
  • Your service offers and any claims on them, your lesson progress, your meeting RSVPs, and your Cahoots notifications and email history.
  • Your matches are closed (archived) and no longer appear for you or the other business.
  • Your business listing reverts to an unclaimed public card: its description, services and contact details are wiped and it is detached from you.
  • Your email address is suppressed, so you will not receive future Cahoots claim invites.

Kept

  • The unclaimed card keeps only the business name, category and logo. To remove the listing entirely, email us (see “Your business listing” below).
  • Referral and patronage records you share with another business stay in that business's history, with your names, contact details and notes removed.
  • Meetings you created stay on the network calendar without your name, and security audit records (ids and dates only) are kept.

If you also use another Animas Marketing product with the same login

Only your Cahoots data is deleted, nothing else.

Deleted

  • Your Cahoots sign-in and any outstanding Cahoots password-reset links.
  • Your swipes, deck and notification preferences, profile prompts and answers, and the messages you sent.
  • Your photos.
  • Your service offers and any claims on them, your lesson progress, your meeting RSVPs, and your Cahoots notifications and email history.
  • Your matches are closed (archived) and no longer appear for you or the other business.
  • Your business listing reverts to an unclaimed public card: its description, services and contact details are wiped and it is detached from you.
  • Your email address is suppressed, so you will not receive future Cahoots claim invites.

Not affected

  • Your Animas Marketing account, its password and your other Animas Marketing products are not affected.
  • The unclaimed card keeps only the business name, category and logo.
  • Referral and patronage records you share with another business stay in that business's history, with your names, contact details and notes removed.
  • Meetings you created stay on the network calendar without your name, and security audit records (ids and dates only) are kept.

What we keep

  • Records we are legally required to keep, such as billing and tax records for a Featured subscription, and records needed to handle safety reports about abusive content or fraud. We keep these only as long as the law or the report requires.
  • De-identified usage statistics that no longer point to you.

Your business listing

Cahoots shows Durango businesses as public directory cards, including businesses that have never signed up. Deleting your account removes your personal details from the card but does not by itself take the business off the directory; as described above, it stays as a public card (an unclaimed one if you also use another Animas Marketing product).

To have a business listing removed from Cahoots entirely, email [email protected] with the subject “Remove my business from Cahoots” and the name of the business. To stop invite emails only, use the unsubscribe link in any invite or email us the same way.
